Poor Cherokee...

Tonight, while Ben and I were up in Brigham City visiting the family, we decided that it was late and that we needed to head home. We stopped at the theatre to request a day of in December. When we went back out to the car, I looked at Cherokee in the back seat and told Ben that she looked awfully tired. As I looked closer at her I realized that the outsides of her eyed were HUGE!!! I told Ben "umm...babe, look at Cherokee." Ben was as freaked out as I was. We ran back inside to ask Patti if we could call our vet that lives right down the road from the family (how convenient). She told us to just go down to his house, and that he would be fine with us going down there. Well, he told us that she had probably ate something and was allergic to whatever she might have ate. He was very nice, and helpful and told us to just give her some benadryl and it should clear it all up, the good thing he mentioned was that she was going to be tired (a sleepy dog, is always a good dog!) When we finally got home, the swelling had gone down a lot and this is a picture taken off of my phone so it's not the best quality, but if you look closely around her eyes she is very swollen. The poor little thing, looks very uncomfortable and she is laying at my feet as we speak. Ben and I decided that if we reacted the way we did with our dog (what?? She is the closest thing we have to a baby right now, and since we aren't having ANY luck in the baby department, you'll just have to deal with the dog posts). to an allergy, how are we going to react with a human baby? Oh boy, we are wimps! But for now, Cherokee, is the one that lights up whenever we come home just like a child. We love you Cherokee Girl!!! You really have blessed our lives, and we don't know what we would do without you.

That's pretty scary! Dogs are totally part of the family and I'm glad to hear she is okay!

Oh poor thing. The dog posts are GREAT! We did the same thing with Kota when she got stung by a bee - her ears swelled up like crazy- and we rushed her to the emergency vet. $150.00 and a shot of alergy meds and she was good as new. When the baby thing works out you will be just as protective.. and thank goodness for that.
love ya, Laurie
