5 Years!!!

I told Ben last night that I could not believe we had just celebrated our 5th year annivesary. For me, it seems like we were just married. Sure, we've had our ups and downs like every marriage in America , but somehow we manage to make our marriage work. Marriage is hard, it's not easy, but in all reality we have so much fun together. Ben makes me complete!

Grandma Natter took Brighton for the night on Friday while Ben and I enjoyed a night all alone. It was a much needed night together. We all need those nights once in awhile to remind us that we still have that "spark" and that it's not lost in all of the marriage details that come along with owning a home, having kids, working, and going to school.

I had planned to recreate our first date! We had so much fun together!

Let's blast into the past for a few minutes...

I was a wreck and had just come from my grandma's house after finding out that my Uncle Jan had passed away. I had even contemplated not even going on the date and staying with my family. When push came to shove though, I knew I needed to go on this date with Ben. Boy, I am so glad that I went on our date.

Ben picked me up and we headed to Wagonmaster, we ate and talked and had a good time. After eating we went to a bowling alley with Trapper and Taryn. We had such a fun time, and I totally kicked Ben's butt in bowling. It was such a good date. When I look back on that night I remember feeling comfortable with Ben. Not to comfortable, but not the typical first alone date uncomfortable either. I was something I can't really explain. It was a good date and I now know that this was the beginning of something so wonderful!

So, let's head back to the future aka...now!

Friday night I planned our first date all over again.

We headed to the Prairie Schooner for a delicious dinner and then went bowling. I kicked Ben's butt in bowling this time around too. We bowled four games I beat him three times. Go me! This was nothing unusual since I kicked his butt that first night we went bowling together too. Then we headed to our hotel for the night. It was a quick getaway but very needed too. We constantly forget or take each other for granted so it is nice to go out without anyone else and remember why we fell in love in the first place.

Happy Anniversary Babe! Here's to many more!

Five years. You can't have been married 5 years--you are both only....well...so young still!

Let me tell you what I like about your blog. You're honest! So many blogs are so flowered up with how wonderful their life is, that it makes others who have a "normal" life feel like something is wrong. I like your honesty. Life is not always blissful. Marriage is hard. But we're all enjoying this journey together. Happy Anniversary!!
