Out with the old, in with the new.

Don't fall out of your chairs people. Yes, this is Ben writting this blog. Now that I have your attention, I want to tell you all what happened to me this past week. Wednesday September 30 was a normal day. Went to work and Scouts. Didn't really think what the next week would have in store for me. Thursday, I believe, I get a phone call from Dan Sheer, our wards Executive Secretary and one of my home teaching families. He totally threw me a left hook asking if I would meet with the bishop at 6:30pm the upcomming Wednesday. I said yes, and the whole week leading to that appointment, i was nurveous, almost to the extent of becoming sick. Wednesday comes around, and I get ready. I had mutual right after so i had to go in the Bishop's office in my scout uniform. I got there a little early because I remember my mission president, President Branwell, say that when he met with President Packer, he had to be 15 minutes early because President Packer always says "if you're 10 minutes early, your 5 minutes late". So I was 20 minutes early. Well, I pull into the church parking lot and see Brother Fenton, the 2nd counselor in the Young Men's, walking up to the door. Then all the emotions came, but not to the extent of crying. My thoughts were flying every direction. It almost reminded me when i got released as a full time missionary, but not as extreme.
Finally it was my turn to go in and then the small talk starts. I'm the type of person that hates small talk. I'm upfront and to the point. There is no reason to keep me more in suspense. Then Bishop says that they are going to release me as the 1st counselor in the Young Mens. Deep down inside, i knew it was going to happen. I was more scared what they were going to call me into. Since KoriAnn and I have been married, I have been in Young Men's, Scouts or both at the same time.
After my release, he then goes on and says we won't keep you in limbo for to long, we would like to call you as the: (Drum Roll.................)

I'm selfish to say that this is what I wanted. I love working with this age group (14-15 year olds). It's going to be a lot of fun and hard work. Plus the new 1st Counselor, the advisor and Ast. Team Coach, is going to be great too. We are going to take this Team to heights it's never been before. I am very excited.
So for all those who were worried about my facebook post last week, this was the reason.
